 There have been recent reports that former singing and dancing sensation Ashanti was in jeopardy of being dropped from her record label and that she is also flat broke. According to a Mediatakeout.com reader who wrote to the site was affiliated with Ashanti’s label and had this to say: I [was affiliated] with Universal and it’s no secret that the Universal/Motown division is having the worst timeworking with Ashanti and her team. It’s been a nightmare working on the “The Declaration” Album. Part of the problem is that she and her stylist have the tendency to “borrow” frocks and never return them - leaving the label with the unfortunate burden to paying for them ..Also it’s not a secret that since she and Irv stop “working” together, her cash flow is not what it used to be and her entourage is complaining about not being paid for jobs (and all the while her mother continues to book them). Her photoshoot for “The Declaration” was also a nightmare. Ashanti could not fit into any of the samples and she was a beast to work with on set. People at the label are taking bets to see how soon she will get dropped Damn! I was never really fond of Ashanti but I did like her lyrics. Well somewhat.

Despite reports saying his club was in jeopardy of not opening for new years due to building code issues, Jay-Z pulled a miracle and held the grand opening of his 40/40 club in Las Vegas last night to all of his close celebrity friends. Some celebs who attended were his bootylicious wife girlfriend Beyonce, her sister Solange and Lebron James.  

There have been recent reports that Reggae artist Movado has died after being shot by a police officer in Kingston, Jamaica. I doubt this is true though because the radiowaves would be running with this story. 

Reflecting back on the year 2007 we must realize that this year was not only about block buster movies and major comebacks in the record industry but for many other controversial things.  

 Celebrity Mug Shots/ Celebrities and Drunk Driving Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan are just some of the stars who have been arrested for DWI and DUI however the award for celeb DWI/DUI goes to… Paris Hilton This hotel Heiress of the Hilton Chain was sentenced to 45 days in jail for DWI and driving with a suspended license and her reason for doing so was, “my agent said I could”. Brilliant! However why this received as much attention as it did still does not make sense.  2007 Has also been the year for Rehab visits by celebrities, especially young Hollywood. However the award for Rehab visit by celebrity goes to… Lindsay Lohan. Lohan entered rehab after numerous arrest and jail house visits. However it took more then two different rehab visits for her to actually settle on one in Utah where she made some progress.     Meltdown of 2007 There has not been a celebrity meltdown as controversial and most watched as former pop princess Britney Spears. This train train wreck got a divorce, shaved her head, went to rehab on more then one occasion, attacked a paparazzi’s car with a umbrella, fed her kids junk food, been accused of child neglect, flopped a huge MTV VMA awards performance, and had horrible record sales for her CD blackout all in one year. This celeretard is not on the road to better health mentally and physically but who am I to judge if she wants to be a lousy parent and not a good role model to her 16 year-old pregnant sister and her younger fans then hey thats her business.   Biggest Concert Flop of the Year goes to… Beyonce. We can all remember when Beyonce fell down a flight of stairs during one of her concert performances. This was history because we all were able to realize that this superstar can make an ass of herself like every other person and we love her more for it.    The Sex Tape Scandal award goes to…Kim “The Tush” Kardashian and rapper/ actor Ray-J. In their sex tape Kim and Ray-J make some memorable moments with their foreplay and uh…interaction with one another infront of the camera. I can honestly say it beat Paris Hilton and Eve’s tape hands down. Can’t mess with the Tush!!   Most anticipated come back of 2007 goes to… Janet Jackson. After her last album flopped I hoped Janet had learned her lesson and stopped allowing her fiance to create music for her. Don’t get it twisted I love JD however maybe they should keep their respective careers separate from each other. However Janet has released her new single called “Feedback” off her upcoming album in 2008 and it is killing the radio stations and the charts. Keep it up Janet maybe this will be your new velvet rope.More awards to come….

 Sources reveal that Sean “Diddy” Combs  has lost the Senior A&R member of his Bad Boy record label. The reason is that Diddy is cheap. A reader recently told Mediatakeout.com that:Diddy is a cheapskate.. Dis ni*ga is sitting on a fortune estimated at $250 million and he wouldn’t pay his Senior A&R, matter of fact only A&R- Conrad D - the going rate for an A&R of a major label which is about $250,000 a year. Keep in mind Conrad has been at Bad Boy for over 10 years handling projects like:

Remember Cassie doesn’t produce or write her songs and no one would book her for shows because she can’t sing live. Songstress Brandy Norwood has been cleared of all charges from the Los Angeles District Attorney in the death involving 38 year-old Awatef Aboudihaj. Aboudihaj died on December 30th, 2006 in a accident which many believe were initally caused by Norwood. However new evidence shows Aboudihaj had marijuana in her system imparing her ability to drive. 

 Nathenial “Nate Dogg” Hale has suffered a stroke in his Pomona home on December 20th, 2007. The 38 year-old rapper is currently recovering in Pomona Valley Hospital. Nate Dogg made his debut on Dr. Dre’s 1992 album, The Chronic and has been a legend in the industry ever since then.  Get well soon Nate!!
